Web design: historiacritica.com
After designing the brand identity for the PAPIME project "Latin American History Teaching Tools, from the World-System Perspective and Critical Theory (1970-2022)", I was tasked with creating the project’s website: Historia Crítica de América Latina. The site serves as a digital repository to disseminate academic resources, aiming to enhance the teaching and learning of Latin American history through a critical lens.
Design Objective
The primary goal was to design a functional, accessible, and user-friendly platform that facilitates seamless consultation and download of academic materials. The challenge was to align the website with the existing brand identity while implementing modern web design practices to meet the needs of both the academic community and a broader audience.
Key Design Considerations
Functionality: The repository prioritizes intuitive navigation, ensuring that users can easily locate and access resources. Search filters, clear categorization, and downloadable formats were integrated to enhance usability.
Accessibility: The website adheres to inclusive design principles, optimizing readability, responsive design for mobile and desktop use, and compliance with accessibility standards to accommodate diverse users.
User Experience: The interface was crafted to balance visual appeal with practicality. The color palette and typography, rooted in the brand identity, maintain consistency while creating an engaging experience.
The result is a streamlined, visually cohesive website that mirrors the intellectual depth of the project. Dynamic layouts and clean typography guide users through the content, while the vibrant orange from the brand identity emphasizes key elements.
The website for Historia Crítica de América Latina goes beyond functionality; it embodies the project's commitment to fostering critical engagement with Latin American history.
By blending academic rigor with accessible design, the platform effectively bridges the gap between scholarly work and its audience.
